A Polyester-Free Bra and Shorts Set in India
Most gym sets sold in India list polyester first. Eucalyptus fibre costs us close to five times what polyester would.
The First Set is a sports bra and biker shorts. Each sized separately. ₹4,999, which is less than buying the two apart.
If you have started reading the composition line, you already know how rare that is. The rest of this page is for the moment after you notice, and before you buy another pair of the same thing. And if you have not started, the composition is the second line on the care label, under the brand. It is not hidden. It is also not advertised.
What a gym set is usually made of
Open a drawer of workout clothes and read the labels. Polyester. Nylon. Elastane. Sometimes a recycled claim on the hangtag that does not change the fibre. The set looks different from the last one. The fibre does not.
Polyester is cheap to mill, easy to dye, and it holds a shape under stretch. That is why it won the category. It also sits on skin as plastic. It holds heat. It holds odour in a way plant fibre does not. None of this is a secret. It is just rarely placed next to the price of the other option.
We use eucalyptus plant fibre. Up to 95 percent of the cloth. Zero polyester. Zero nylon. Five to seven percent elastane, because a bra and a short have to move with you and come back. European pulp, made in India. The elastane is the honest plastic in the mix. We do not call the cloth plastic-free.
A longer map of the category sits in the complete guide to non-synthetic activewear in India. This page stays on one object: a bra and shorts that can be a first buy.
Why a set, not a single piece
A cold first order on a brand you have never worn is a lot of faith to put in a pair of joggers. Joggers are what people buy when they already trust the handfeel. The door is smaller.
A sports bra is against the skin for an hour. Biker shorts are against the skin for the same hour, and often for the hours after. If the fibre is wrong, you know before lunch. If it is right, you stop thinking about the clothes. That is the test we wanted, not a wardrobe.
We make one entry set. Not ten. The First Set is the Terra Bra and the Biker Shorts, sold together, sized apart. If you want a flare, that is a different set at a different price. We will not pretend they are the same decision. Heartwood is a bralette and flare at ₹8,999. Off-Hours is a wide-leg at ₹6,499. Both are real products. Neither is the first thing a stranger should have to judge on a phone.
The bra in the First Set has a band that is meant to disappear once it is on. The shorts are cut not to ride. Those are construction notes, not poetry. You will know in the first session whether they hold. If they do not, the thirty-day line is there for that, tags on.
There is a short note on polyester-free gym sets if you want the category without the SKU. And a beginner page that argues for one set rather than a wardrobe. Both exist so this page can stay specific.
Sized apart, on purpose
Bra size and short size are not the same measurement. Brands that sell a set in one size are asking you to compromise one of them. We did not want that as the first thing a stranger has to do on our site.
You pick the bra. You pick the shorts. The cart holds both. The price is ₹4,999 for the pair, which is less than the two SKUs added on their own pages. The money went into the fabric. The discount is the difference between a set and two singles, not a sale.
Tags stay on for thirty days. If it is not right, we pick it up. That line sits on the product page, not as a headline here. It is a condition of trying, not a slogan.
What the fibre does on skin
Eucalyptus fibre takes dye in a way that stays matte. It does not shine like a synthetic mix under gym light. It wets and dries without the slick film polyester leaves. People who already train in it tend to say they cannot go back. We do not put that sentence in their mouths. We put the cloth on the body and wait.
Heat is the other half. Polyester traps it. Plant fibre moves vapour through the knit. You still sweat. You just do not sit in a plastic layer while you do. For a country that trains indoors with the air-con fighting the humidity, that is not a lifestyle claim. It is a fabric fact.
Odour follows the same split. Polyester holds bacteria in the filament. Plant fibre does not, not in the same way. Wash it. Hang it. Wear it again. The short list of non-toxic workout clothes in India is the place we keep the wider reading. Here the point is narrower: a bra and shorts you can wear twice in a week without dreading the wash.
What ₹4,999 is paying for
International labels cut this fibre above ₹6,000 a piece. We are not those labels. We are a small Indian house. The mill cost of eucalyptus is still close to five times polyester. The First Set is priced under the two pieces apart so the first order is a test, not a collection.
That is the constraint. We cannot be the cheapest gym set in the country and also mill this cloth. If a ₹1,499 tee would make the maths easier, it would also make the fibre story a lie. We did not do that.
You can read composition before the logo. That is the whole pitch, and it is also the filter. People who want a logo will bounce. People who want the fibre tend to stay long enough to size the bra.
How to decide without a fitting room
Measure. Use the size chart on the product. If you sit between two bra sizes, the notes on the page are written for that, not for a generic medium. The shorts run true if you take your usual bottom size in a fitted pair.
Black is the colour most people start with. Brown is there if you already know you live in it. We do not rotate ten drops a year. The set you buy in October is the set we will still be making in the next season, in the same fibre, with the same elastane band.
Wash cold. Hang. Do not soften. The fibre does not need a coating to feel like itself. Heat in a dryer is the one thing that shortens the life of any knit with elastane in it, ours included. Five to seven percent is enough to recover. It is not enough to survive a hot tumble week after week.
If you already own a WEARTH piece, you know the handfeel. This page is not for you. If you do not, this is the smallest complete outfit we sell that still tells the truth on the label. A drawer full of polyester sets will still be there tomorrow. This one will also still be there. The only thing that changes is whether you have felt the difference against skin or only read about it.
What is the First Set made of
Up to 95 percent eucalyptus plant fibre. Zero polyester, zero nylon. Five to seven percent elastane. European pulp, made in India. The bra and the shorts share that composition.
Why is it sold as a set
Because a first order should be a full outfit against the skin, sized so the bra and the shorts can be different. ₹4,999 is less than the two pieces apart.
What happens if the size is wrong
Thirty days, tags on, courier pickup. The product page carries the line. We ask that the tags stay on. That is all.
Is this plastic-free activewear
No. Elastane is five to seven percent of the cloth. We say polyester-free and nylon-free. We do not say plastic-free.
The composition is on the garment. The price is on the page. You can leave both sitting there.
